Thanksgiving was meant to be a holy day to give thanks to God, our Creator, for all of the blessings he has provided us with throughout the year. Most people celebrate it with a big dinner for extended family and friends. Some of these people may only be able to see each other once or twice a year. Family members may have to travel long distances to be there. People that must work on Thanksgiving often have to miss their family dinner, and not be able to see their loved ones.

Parents need as much quality time with their children as possible. How else are they supposed to teach them values and show their love?

Then there are all the fixings that go with the dinner. It's hard enough to cook for Thanksgiving and have everything ready on time if you are home all of the time. It's almost impossible if you have to work part of Thanksgiving Day. It's also very hard to work all day on dinner, then have to go in to work at night.

It is a fact that there are 50% more heart attacks among Americans during the winter months, and most of them are during the holidays. Survivors of heart attacks are more likely to suffer a stroke. Stress leads to many other problems, too. Mental problems, marital problems, and domestic violence also rise due to stress during the holidays.

The saddest part of all of this, is that the people getting rich off of all the Thanksgiving sales are not the people that are going to be out there working. They will be in their big fine houses, all dressed up, while someone else cooks, serves, and cleans up after their big Thanksgiving dinner that hey will be having with their family and friends.
